Every year I pick a few of our best-selling styles to feature for the annual “Best Hiking Boots” list. Oddly enough, 2013 contains some trail shoes that have made the list for many years. I call these styles the staples of hiking. Boots that have been around long enough that very little updating or improvement was ever needed. They’ve been worn by hundreds of thousands of hikers and outdoor enthusiasts for years and they deserve a little recognition for that in my opinion.
Choosing the best hiking boots for 2013 may seem like an easy task, but not so fast. This list is a compiliation of all hiking boots…for men, for women, and not just the new 2013 styles. Any hiking shoe that is available for sale this year is considered for this list. And to be perfectly honest, it’s very difficult for a new shoe to make the cut when you’re comparing it to the many who have stood the test of time.
1. Hi-Tec Rainier Event WPi Hiking Boot – 2013
Load your backpack, plot your trail course and take on any backcountry adventure with the Hi-Tec Rainier hiking boot for men. Bursting with features, the Rainier boots will live up to any outdoor adventure you can throw at them. The Rainier’s from Hi-Tec are a top choice because they’ve ‘weathered’ the storm time and time again without disappointing. Vibram outsoles, waterproof full-grain leather uppers, protective toe cap and the TPU heel locking system give this boot all the bells & whistles.
2. Timberland Chocorua Gore-Tex Hiking Boot – 2013
The Timberland Chocorua Trail boot is great for day hikes, adventure walks and all other outdoor activities. The Gore-Tex waterproof membrane will keep your feet dry and comfortable; the rugged outsole will provide the traction you need wherever you’re headed. It makes the list because I own this boot and it’s the most lightweight and comfortable hiker I’ve ever had. The laces and brass hardware are rugged and last forever. And with the Gore-Tex membrane and gusseted tongue you stay dry no matter what.
3. Keen Voyageur Hiking Shoe – 2013
A 2013 Best choice for avid hikers, the Keen Voyageur hiking shoe for women provides extreme stability and support. The highly breathable women’s Voyageur has a non marking rubber outsole and multi direction lugs to provide traction on rough terrian. This style is also a perfect choice for ladies who want a tough, long-lasting sneaker style shoe for most any type of trails terrain.
